Academic Awards


MIAA Academic Honor Roll

An MIAA Academic Honor Roll will be released at the conclusion of each academic year for all MIAA student-athletes in all sports. Recipients will be recognized at the annual awards banquet.

Criteria for Award:

a.) Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 at the certifying member institution.
b.) Have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.


Scholar-Athlete Award

Two teams of scholar-athletes (one each for men and women) will be compiled at the end of each academic year for all MIAA student-athletes in all sports. Recipients will be recognized at the annual awards banquet.

Criteria for Award:

a.) Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 at the certifying member institution.
b.) Have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
c.) If competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, the student-athlete must earn All-MIAA honors.
d.) If competing in a sport without an MIAA championship (swimming, women's bowling, men's soccer and wrestling), the student-athlete must either be selected to an All-Region/District team in a team sport, or qualify for the national meet in an individual sport.


Academic Excellence Award

An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient list will be released at the conclusion of each academic year for all MIAA student-athletes in all sports. Recipients will be recognized at the awards banquet.

Criteria for Award:

a.) Have a cumulative grade point average of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution.
b.) Have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.


Institutional Academic Awards

IThe MIAA presents institutional academic awards in three categories with reference to an institution's student-athlete academic success and graduation rates, as reported annually to the NCAA. Recipients will be recognized at the awards banquet.

  • Highest overall student-athlete Academic Success Rate
  • Highest differential of student-athlete Graduation Rate over student body rate
  • Most improved student-athlete Academic Success Rate from previous year.
