How the MIAA champion was determined
1966-70 & 1979-83: Best-of-three series between Northern & Southern Division winners.
1971-78: Best regular season conference record.
1984: Top three teams in each division advanced to six-team double-elimination bracket (one of the teams, UMR, chose not to participate).
1985-93: Top two teams in each division advanced to a four-team, double-elimination bracket.
1994-96 & 1998-2000: Eight teams advanced to postseason, with four teams eliminated through best-of-three series. The series winners played a four-team, double-elimination tournament.
1997: Two four-team double-elimination brackets, with winners playing a best-of-three championship series.
2001-present: Best regular season conference record (Four-team, double-elimination tournament winner is recognized separately).
