Purpose: The mission of the MIAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, maintaining athletic integrity, acting as a liason between the student-athletes and the administration, and fostering a positive student-athlete image.

Representation: Each institution shall have two representatives (one male and one female), both of which must student-athletes in good academic standing.

Each institution shall determine how their representatives are selected.

The representatives will be responsible for attending two MIAA SAAC meetings. The first shall be held in the fall (the third Sunday in November) and in the spring (the first Sunday following Easter).

The term of office runs for one year, starting in the fall and ending in the spring. There are no limitations to the number of times a person may serve on the MIAA SAAC, providing he/she maintains eligibility for their respective campus' SAAC.

Alternates are permitted, up to two per member institution.

Voting: The majority of the voting members will rule.

There will be one vote per representative; however, if there are two alternates in attendance for an institution, only one vote for that institution shall be permitted. If only one alternate is in attendance, this person shall have a vote.

Officer: Chair -- This person will be the individual who serves as the MIAA's representative on the NCAA Division II SAAC. The chair shall serve in this capacity for the period of time he/she serves on the national SAAC.

Lines of communication: All MIAA SAAC recommendations will be directed to the MIAA Institutional Representatives.

Liaisons: To be appointed by the MIAA Institutional Representatives on an annual basis.
